Discomfort in the stomach, such as a feeling of fullness, a burning sensation in the upper abdomen, and bloating.

Complaints are very common and generally mild. These complaints may occur during meals, after eating, or when meals are delayed.

 

Causes :

  • Diseases of the digestive tract, such as gastric ulcers, H. pylori bacterial infections, inflammation in the stomach (gastritis), and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • It can result from uncontrolled diabetes, a condition known as diabetic gastroparesis.
  • Use of medications, including:
    • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): aspirin or ibuprofen.
    • Antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin or azithromycin.
    • Corticosteroid medications.

 

Symptoms :

  • Pain in the upper abdomen
  • Bloating
  • A feeling of fullness, both during and after meals
  • Frequent burping and flatulence
  • Sour taste in the mouth
  • Burning sensation in the chest or upper stomach

 

Prevention :

  • Limit consumption of spicy or fatty foods.
  • Reduce the intake of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages.
  • Manage stress effectively.
  • Avoid smoking.
  • Do not lie down immediately after eating.
  • Eat small portions and chew food slowly.
