Low Back Pain

Lower back pain, also known as low back pain, is a discomfort or pain that occurs in the lower back area of the body, including the lower spine, waist, pelvis, and may radiate to the buttocks or legs.

Common Causes of Low Back Pain
Low back pain is often experienced by individuals after engaging in excessive physical activity, such as lifting overly heavy loads. However, other conditions can also cause low back pain, including spinal abnormalities like lordosis, scoliosis, and kyphosis.

Causes of Low Back Pain
The primary cause of low back pain is muscle tension or injury in the lower back area. Additionally, low back pain may arise due to other health issues such as arthritis, kidney stones, osteoporosis, nerve problems, and more.

Several factors can trigger low back pain in individuals, including:

  • Being aged 30 to 50 years.

  • Being overweight or obese.

  • Pregnancy.

  • Frequent lifting of heavy objects.

  • Sudden movements that strain the lower back, such as falls.

  • Sports injuries.

  • Spinal abnormalities.

  • Poor posture, such as habitual slouching.

Symptoms of Low Back Pain
The symptoms of low back pain include:

  • Sharp pain in the lower back that may radiate to the buttocks, thighs, or calves.

  • Pain that worsens in specific positions, such as bending over.

  • Difficulty standing upright or walking.

  • Muscle spasms, especially in the lower back area.

Treatment for Low Back Pain
In some cases, mild low back pain can resolve on its own. Treatment is necessary if the pain is suspected to originate from complications of other serious conditions. Additionally, doctors may recommend adopting a healthy lifestyle, such as consuming a balanced, nutritious diet and exercising regularly.
