Maintaining Digestive Health

Anyone can experience various digestive symptoms, such as abdominal pain, excessive stomach acid, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea, which can undoubtedly disrupt daily activities.

Here are several ways to maintain digestive health :

  1. Consume Nutritious Foods
    Following a diet low in preservatives, trans fats, and artificial sweeteners can improve digestion and protect against digestive disorders.

  2. Consume Enough Fiber
    Fiber is divided into three types:
    - Soluble Fiber, such as legumes, grains, and oats.
    - Insoluble Fiber, such as vegetables and whole grains.
    - Prebiotics, found in fruits and vegetables, which are digested by beneficial bacteria in the gut.

  3. Increase Healthy Fats
    Healthy fats help absorb certain nutrients that are fat-soluble, such as Omega-3. These can be found in fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines, as well as in some nuts and seeds.

  4. Stay Hydrated
    Meet your fluid needs by reducing caffeinated drinks and increasing the consumption of water-rich fruits and vegetables such as cucumber, melon, tomato, celery, and strawberries.

  5. Manage Stress
    Through meditation and relaxation exercises.

  6. Practice Mindful Eating
    Stop all activities while eating to better focus on the food’s texture, temperature, and flavor.

  7. Chew Your Food Thoroughly
    Chewing food properly makes it easier to digest.

  8. Exercise Regularly

  9. Listen to Your Body
    When feeling emotional or anxious, people tend to overlook whether they are hungry or full. Taking time to relax and tune in to your body can reduce symptoms of digestive disorders.

  10. Break Bad Habits
    Quit bad habits like smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, or eating late at night. Allow at least 3-4 hours between eating and lying down or sleeping.
