Flu is not the same as a common cold. Although the symptoms are similar, these two conditions are caused by different types of viruses. Flu is a disease that is easily transmitted to other people, especially in the first 3-4 days after the sufferer is infected.
A person can catch the flu if they accidentally inhale droplets of saliva in the air, which the sufferer expels when sneezing or coughing.
Flu symptoms include :
Mild flu can be overcome by getting plenty of rest, eating healthy foods that contain vitamin C, and drinking lots of fluids. However, if the symptoms are severe, immediately consult a doctor. Flu complications in worsening conditions include pneumonia, heart problems, meningitis and viral infections of the brain.
