Some activities performed while working, such as sitting for long periods, being in front of a computer or laptop, and answering the phone, may seem light. However, these activities can actually cause health problems, both short-term and long-term.
This is because sitting for extended periods reduces the amount of physical activity, which goes against a healthy lifestyle. Health issues can arise from the back and spread to the heart. Additionally, working for long hours in front of a computer can affect the neck and hands.
Therefore, here are some tips to maintain health while working in the office:
Position the computer or laptop correctly
If you look at the computer or laptop screen with your head bent too much, you could experience back and neck pain. Similarly, positioning the computer or laptop too high can cause dry eyes. So, position the computer or laptop correctly, aligned with head height, to prevent health issues.
Sit with the correct posture
Sitting for too long, whether using a computer, laptop, or answering the phone, can lead to back and neck pain. To avoid this, improve your sitting posture by positioning your body upright, with your forearms parallel to the desk and keyboard. Try to sit with your shoulders relaxed and pulled back.
Walk every hour
Walking and stretching periodically is important. This can also be used as an opportunity to refill your water, take a bathroom break, greet colleagues, or simply take a light walk around the office.
Blink more often
If you use a computer or laptop for extended periods, it’s a good idea to blink more often. Blinking helps prevent dry eyes and keeps your eye health in check.
Stay hydrated
Dehydration is harmful to the body and can also cause drowsiness. Additionally, thirst is often mistaken for hunger, leading to unnecessary eating.
Wash hands regularly
Not only is it important to maintain internal health, but taking care of external health is equally vital. One of the ways to do this is by washing your hands frequently.
