Types of Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a general term for various types of blood cancers that develop in the lymphatic system, potentially causing the enlargement of lymph nodes.

Lymphoma is categorized into two types: Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Hodgkin lymphoma occurs due to a mutation in B cells within the lymphatic system, identified by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells in cancer cells. Meanwhile, non-Hodgkin lymphoma arises from DNA mutations in B cells and T cells within the lymphatic system.

 

Symptoms of Lymphoma:

  1. Swelling of lymph nodes, typically in the neck, armpits, and groin
  2. Fluctuating body temperature
  3. Recurrent fever and excessive night sweats
  4. Shortness of breath and coughing
  5. Fatigue
  6. Enlarged tonsils
  7. Unexplained weight loss

 

Risk Factors for Lymphoma:
Lymphoma risk factors vary, including age, genetic predisposition, exposure to toxic chemicals, and a history of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection. Therefore, preventive measures such as regular check-ups at healthcare facilities are essential, especially if you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above.
